My understanding is that battery status and lock codes do not get reported via Matter.

Not to Hubitat currently. And while the U400 currently does not, @mike.maxwell also confirmed at the end of the post here that several other locks also do not support code setting or code reading. Also here about Matter locks in general.

It is not a driver-level problem. The Matter diagnostic logs show that the lock sends an InvokeCommandResponse, but this response is not currently exposed to the Groovy driver.
