Aqara M3 Hub and Homekit Controller Integration

Has anyone joined an Aqara M3 hub or any hub like that via the Homekit Controller Integration? Does it generate child devices for each device connected to the M3 hub?

It should, but if the device also supports Matter, trying it that way (as Generic Matter Bridge) is probably going to get you better results.

I haven't tried this one but have tested the M100 like this (though in the end I just wanted it as a "test" TBR separate from others in my house--and I assume yours might have similar options to share individual devices instead, too; that was my goal here, probably not yours, but may be an option if you'd prefer it).

I have the M3 joined to one of my production hubs via matter and the Generic Matter Bridge already. I was curious about testing the M3 via Homekit on my beta HE hub. I am curious to see how or what the difference would be. Matter has not always been stable for me but the few Homekit devices I have has always been rock solid.

No reason you can't try! :grinning: I'm guessing you might run into some missing HomeKit-compatible drivers if they're weren't "real" devices like this tested during its development, and a "native" integration is generally preferred when there is one, but from a technical perspective, I don't think anything besides the above would stop you.

I will give it a shot when I have some spare time and we will see. I had an M2 hub before that which was unstable via matter and switched it out this weekend for an M3. I have an entire Aqara eco system in my building area that consists of numerous Aqara devices. Had them before HE. I added 5 of the FP300 sensors in the house to that M2 and it started to lag a little so I switched to the M3. It's extra processing power took care of that. It has been solid via matter since Saturday but it is less than a week. Time will tell.

I finally got time to test this. I connected the M3 to HE via Homekit. All devices came over. Contact sensors and water leak sensors came over labeled correctly and worked correctly. The Aqara T2 relay came over as one device with two child devices, one for each relay. Temp/Humidity sensor so worked correctly. Plugs and wall switches all came over labeled and functioning correctly. The Aqara water valve came as a functioning switch. The FP300 sensors came across as one device with 4 child devices, motion, temp, humidity, and lux.

All these devices functioned correctly and worked well. The only device that came over that did not work correctly was the mini switch but matter doesn't bring over buttons into HE either so that is a wash.

So if anyone has consistent matter subscription issues and having devices to stop functioning properly then Homekit may be a viable option for them. I say may be because I didn't do any extensive long term testing. If I have may more matter issues then I will be doing that testing. Lol.
