Aqara G410 Doorbell Not Working with Matter Advanced Bridge

First, Thanks so much @kkossev for writing the Matter Advanced Bridge and sharing it with the community.

I have the Matter Advanced Bridge working perfectly with a SwitchBot Hub and Orein Bath Fan/Light. Now I would like to gain access to the doorbell button and mmWave presence sensor built into a Aqara G410 Doorbell.

I've paired the G410 with my C-8 and changed the Device Type to Matter Advanced Bridge. I then went through the procedure of discovering all bridged devices. However, the device count comes back as zero.

When bridging my SwitchBot hub, the internal temperature sensor, humidity sensor, etc. are all automatically bridged to HE with the Matter Advanced Bridge. Is this not the case with the Aqara Doorbell Hub? If so, how can I bridge the mmWave sensor and doorbell button built into the G410 to HE?

I posted this problem through the Aqara app and got the below response. Unfortunately, this doesn't solve the problem as bridging scenes defined in the Aqara app is, I believe, a one way conversation in the wrong direction. I've sent an email to Aqara support.

The only way I've thought of to make this work is to:

  1. Purchase an Aqara Light Switch. Provide power to the switch but don't wire a load to it.

  2. Create automations that turn on the light switch when presence is detected by the mmWave sensor in the G410 and turn off the light switch when presence goes away.

  3. Bridge the light switch through Matter to HE.

  4. Trigger automations on HE when the Aqara light switch turns on/off.

Make sure you are using the latest Matter Advanced Bridge package version. If you used HPM to install it, perform a ‘Repair’ - this will update the drivers to the latest version. There was a problem with the slower Matter over WiFi communication in the older versions.

You shouldn’t need to purchase any additional Aqara switches, etc…

Thanks @kkossev . I believe I am running the latest version of the Matter Advanced Bridge, but just to be sure, I ran the HPM repair. After the repair was done I ran a Discover All on the Aqara G410 but the discovered device count remained zero.

I have an open case with Aqara on this and from what they have initially said this is going to require signal synchronization to get the information I want from the G410 to HE. But, it isn't clear to me yet whether this can be done directly with the G410 or whether it will require a separate Aqara hub.

If you look at the live logs, do you see any errors?

Aqara-specific Signal synchronization is supported in MAB for a long time.. the problem with your device is elsewhere.

Thanks @kkossev . There are no errors in the logs. Just Info messages showing the progress of the discovery.

Since they just started their weekend in China, I suspect I won't get back an answer on my questions about signal synchronization on the G410 until Sunday evening. So, I asked Gemini. It says that signal synchronization is supported on the G410. I'll dig into this more and see if I can get it setup and working. Thanks also for letting me know that the Matter Advanced Bridge supports that Aqara feature. I'll report back on my efforts.

Please go to the Preferences and set the "Discovery Timeout Scale" to "3 x". Enable also the Debug logging, then Save :

Run a new discovery again. You can send me the logs in a DM to me, there should be some kind of exceptions or errors, if the number of the discovered devices is still zero.

I asked Gemini to provide me with detailed instructions on setting up signal synchronization (pasted below so other people don't have to go through all this). I setup signal synchronization for the doorbell ringing and lingerer detected on the G410. I also specified that the G410 was the Matter controller for signal synchronization. With that done I ran a discovery and now the Matter Advanced bridge found the 2 signals. Everything is working perfectly.

Given the above, do you still want me to change the Discovery Timeout Scale?

Here are the instructions for setting up signal synchronization:

  1. In the Aqara Home App, go to ProfileConnected EcosystemsMatter.
  2. Tap Scene & Signal Sync, then select Signal management.
  3. Tap the + (plus) icon to add a new signal rule.
  4. Under the "IF" section, tap Add and select your Doorbell Camera Hub G410.
  5. Choose your specific trigger condition (e.g., Doorbell ringing, Face detected, or Linger alert).
  6. Set the acting time window if desired, then save.
  7. Enter a Name for the signal (e.g., "Doorbell Ringing" or "Unknown Person Loitering").
  8. Check the box that says "Add to Matter" and tap OK.

Good news!
So it turned out that G410 is not exposing anything else, but Signals (only when configured in the Aqara hub).

No, there is no need to change the preferences providing the discovery process finished successfully without timeout errors.

Exactly. Aqara seems to be building hub capabilities into many of their products, including the G410. So, it didn't require configuring this on a separate hub, it could be configured on the G410 itself.

That being said, when going through the screens to set this up, it appeared to me that you could only specify a single Aqara hub to be the master for signal synchronization. So for someone running a larger Aqara ecosystem with a hub, they might want to choose that hub instead of an Aqara device with hub functionality built in, like the G410. Probably a better distribution of functionality.

Yes, I have the Aqara G4 Camera which does not have Zigbee and Matter/bridge support.

The Aqara G4 also does not expose anything via the Aqara M3 bridge.

I have setup signal synchronization for doorbell ringing and doorbell low battery and these are exposed via M3 bridge - I presume the G410 will expose anything setup via signal and any ZigBee devices paired to it.
