My hub is C8 Pro running latest platform 2.3.9.176
I just noticed, latest Android app reported hw as C9 and platform 2.3.8.140
(Sorry, I don't know how to capture Android screenshot.)
Both are absolutely incorrect.
This discrepancy shoud/must be corrected.
“C9” could plausibly be an internal designation for C8 Pro.
Did the Android app previously report the hub was a C8 Pro? And this is a change now?
Or did it always say that?
This was the first time I tried this new Android app.
Previous version reports everything correctly (before and now).
Obviously new app has a problem.
Hub hardware versions are Cx where x is a ZWave chipset version (just a first digit only).
For the C9 the ZWave chipset should be 900 which does not exist yet.
C8 and C8 Pro have ZWave 800 chipset.
FWIW, this is coincidence only (with recent models), and I'm not sure why it keeps getting repeated as fact.
Hub models C-3 and C-4 have entered the chat.
But yes, the mobile app should be fixed. I thought this was already, but it's possible there was a regression or it never made it to one mobile platform or the other....
I’m familiar with the hub’s hardware revisions and how they have tracked with z-wave chipsets from C5–C8. C3 and C4 did not, though.
You’re making an assumption about the hardware revision numbering process.
There might be no “error” at all.
I can’t explain an apparent discrepancy between firmware versions your hub is running and what the mobile app reports it’s running, though.
I recall when the C-8 Pro was first released, it did show up in the Hubitat Cloud servers as a C-9. This was fixed pretty quickly, though, by the Hubitat team. That was many months ago. I do not recall if the fix was in the Hub's firmware, the Hubitat Coud, the Mobile App - or some combination of those.
I do recall seeing it, many reported it, and it was resolved.
Thus, I also find it very odd that anyone running a recent Hubitat firmware, with a hub successfully connected to the Hubitat cloud, would be seeing any reference to the "C9" model name.
I started with C5 and Cx versions (C5, C7, C8 and finally C8 Pro) was consistent with the used ZWave chipset version. I never even though why is that. It could be a coincidence or something else.
It’s a coincidence.
I thought I remembered seeing that too, but couldn’t find a specific thread that referenced it with a quick search just now.
Heck, I thought one of the FCC Website leaks even had referred to the C8 pro as a C9 initially. Maybe it's a Mandela effect. It could also just be clouded memories from people asking for new features in an assumed to be C9 as the next hub.
