App on iPad not seeing hub

I've been running my C-5 for a number of years. And, I've introduced some controls to Apple Home to make things easier for my wife. I launched the app and something has changed.

  • I launched the app & see message that "no Hub(s) found for:" appears.
  • I clicked the green bar labeled "Go to Get Started" which sends me to findmyhub.hubitat page...it sees my hub.
  • I click on my hub and have the access that I expect to have on the app.

How do I get my app to recognize the hub. I hope that I am using the right terms, because my searches for a fix have led to a lot of useless stuff.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Oh yeah...

Sounds like your iPad and C-5 are not on the same network (or sub-network). Do you have a VPN client being used on the iPad?

Same network. No VPN or anything exotic. Have a few unmanaged switches scattered around. But, nothing has changed on the network in maybe a year. I’m thinking a recent updated messed it up. Maybe my hub is getting old?

No. Nothing on the hub side - although maybe something on your iPad?

No.

If your iPad can no longer see your hub on the local network, then the hub and the iPad must not be on the same subnet.

Ok. I’ll dig deeper into that. I appreciate your input!

Can you check what the hub's IP address is? And the iPads?

Which app? The Hubiat app or the Apple Home app (since you mentioned Homekit)?

Are you use the Hubitat beta mobile app or the regular app? Which version? Click More > App Settings to see the Hubitat mobile app version.

Have you tried just deleting the Hubitat mobile app and reinstalling it?

Apple iPad OS# 18.3.1
Hubitat app is the newer version 2.4.0.151

iPod app is no longer seeing the Hubitat C-5 hub. It was working just fine the last time I used it...maybe 2 weeks ago. My automations still work. A few months ago I added a few things to the Apple Home ecosystem to make things easier for my wife - control sunroom lights, control family room lamps, alerts for leaks & open garage door. Apple still interacts with Hubitat. I just can't see the hub on the iPad app. I've power cycled iPad and Hubitat, reinstalled app on the pad, and checked status on the Nighthawk router.

checked - same network. No subnet. Router is on xxx.xxx.x.1 and the hub is xxx.xxx.x.4

That is the Hubitat hub platform version.

What is the mobile app version? I gave instructions on how to find it in the app.

Bu you are not connecting to the hub from the router. Is the iPad on the same network?

What's the iPad's IP address? Does your iPad connect to both your WiFi network and also to a cell network? Meaning does it have a SIM or eSIM?

iPad and iPhone are on the same network with the Hubitat. The app does not work on either of my Apple devices. iPad only works on the network; and, I've tried the iPhone on and off the network with no changes. The only way I can control Hubitat is outside the app; I can do this from the iPad or iMac. I have not tried it on my phone, but I expect similar results.

I just checked the apps on iPhone settings - Hubitat app shows as version 1.0.2 build 1.

That's the old legacy app which is not supported anymore.

Go to the app store and install the new app, you can leave the old one installed for now but you will have two different apps with different icons temporarily.

I tried both apps to no avail.

I think I found the problem. During Covid my PayPal account was hacked & I got no help from them, so I killed the email address associated with that account. It was the same one associated with the Hubitat. I asked Hubitat but they could not change the email address; so, I added the new one as an approved user & made it admin and everything worked. I think the latest update hosed that situation.

Thank you both for all your time. I'll procrastinate on this for a while; I don't relish the thought of rebuilding from scratch.

No one ever suggested to do a full reset on the hub? Please dont.

You are able to transfer the admin to a new email, here is a recent-ish post with more details: Can't enter email to change admin account - #3 by bobbyD
