Anyone Seen Increased DB Size Recently?

The one that jumped for me doesn't run either z radio, just local integrations and rules, including kasa and bond, both still the custom versions.

It’s definitely very odd, my c8 DB size is all over the place on .140 and my c7 db size is stable as.

@bobbyD is this really the new normal for a c8 DB now?

Judging from my hubs I would say no, mine are approaching all time lows:

C8 Pro Main Hub - 4MB (160 devices)
C8 Cloud Apps Hub - 7MB (96 devices)
C7 Development Hub -2MB (25 devices)
C7 Matter Test Hub - 1MB (< 5 devices)

Yeah, that is what I thought, I've never seen such wild size fluctuations before.

I've got a C8 Pro coming in a couple of days - I'm wondering if the issue will carry across when I perform the migration.

It feels like a corrupt DB. When was the last time you did a soft reset and restore?

It for sure goes up and down more now but seems to be under control. Recently mine has slowly been going down more and more, maybe some old junk getting purged out.
Around 4/9 and earlier is the old database engine for reference.

For a very active database that is constantly cycling data I would say this is very normal. The increased space you see is probably just bloat from data being cycled and the space does not get reclaimed right away, and then the large decrease is the compaction happening to recover that space. With the old engine compaction was being forced regularly. With the new new engine it manages itself much better so they are letting it do its own thing.

I’m just surprised that my c7 DB size is stable in comparison. That said, it seems to have stabilised at 122MB.

My c8 is trying to get to 200MB  The c7 hasn’t budged from 42MB.

Lightweight.....

 it’s definitely much more dynamic, hub rebooted overnight after dropping below 200MB free ram. My c7 db size is unchanged.

I migrated to my new C8 pro nearly 1/2 an hour ago (which was even smoother than from my C7 to C8), and my DB is down to 17MB in size ... it'll be interesting to see if the "dynamic" behaviour I saw on the C8 returns.

On My C8 Pro, the DB hasn’t exceeded 50MB so far. I assume a soft reset and restore on my C8 would have produced similar results.

It will. Its steady for awhile then seems to go up and down.
