I have a switch in my den that controls 2 overhead lights. They are hardwired together so I need to put dimmer modules in the 2 light boxes.
I found the Zooz Zen32 that probably would work, but
does anyone know of any alternative?
It must be an in-wall transmitter, (ok to be a light controller too, I guess.)
Ideally I'd like to have 4 buttons (light 1 bright, light 2 dim, light 2 bright, light 2 dim.) but I can be flexible on the number of buttons as long as it can send 4 independent commands to the hub.
What do you mean light boxes? Are you saying .." I have two lighting fixtures in this room currently controlled by a single on/off switch. I would like to have an independent dimmer on each of the light fixtures so I can control them separately? I only have a single gang switch box on the wall."...
There is a ZEN35 which is a dimmer and scene controller in one (looks like ZEN32). That could solve the dimming of one fixture. Then you could add a dimmer module in the octagon box for the other fixture and create rules for the ZEN35 scene buttons to control that dimmer level. Here's a zigbee version but Shelly makes a ZWave one as well. Zooz has one in development but haven't released it yet.
Maybe you can find another brand with a dual dimmer in a single gang box or cut the wall, remove the single gang box and put in an Old work two gang box in its place.
I would cut the wall and put in the two gang box. It is a common practice if you aren't on plaster and lathe walls where it would be more difficult. Then you could use a pair of ZEN72/77s.
