ok cheers, im guessing the only way to monitor the usage is through their app, not directly in hubitat?
will i need the smartthings hub also?

It's zigbee and it pairs direct with hubitat and displays power (watts) only. For charting use either hubigraphs or infuxdb with grafana.

If you really want Hubitat monitoring, there is a plug with a community developed (me) integration. The KASA HS-115. Links:
