Any compatible pool alarm?

I have a clumsy dog that's fallen into our swimming pool multiple times. He knows how to swim over to the seat on the side of the pool (where he can stand) but can't get himself out from there. Working on teaching him to swim over to the main steps to get himself out.

That all being said, I'd really like to find some sort of pool alarm to be alerted when something or someone falls into the pool. Ideally it would be able to integrate with Hubitat to allow remote notifications and other things like flashing lights or whatever.

Anyone know of a product like this?

No pool alarm.. but how about a water sensor on the dog’s collar

That's a better idea, thanks! Now to find one that's actually waterproof and small enough to attach to the collar...

Yeah, you can use something like this which has a remote alarm that provides a contact closure when activated which you can pickup via an I/O module for Hubitat And do automations/announcements etc based on it.

Or put one of these on the dogs collar.

Wouldn't be impossible to wire up a HE compatible sensor onto the original receiver for the device above, either.

The docs for the SmartThings Water Leak Sensor say they are water resistant, but not waterproof... Maybe good enough?

You need a wave/splash detector to detect dogs, small children, drunks, and errant waterfowl. My intent was to deter waterfowl, we have Canadian Geese, but if it can detect a goose in the water, it can detect a dog.

I soldered a vibration sensor in the place of a reed switch on a Iris V1 sensor (which come with cute little waterproof gaskets!), and then put the sensor inside the hull of a toy plastic boat. The "alarm" is deactivated by pushing a button mounted by the back door, which gives one 5 minutes to enter to pool and remove the toy boat from the water. When one is done swimming, one returns the toy boat to the water, and the vibration of doing so re-activates the alarm after another 5 minute delay. You may need to ballast your boat to avoid picking up ripples made by wind, as this scheme is useless without a klaxon loud enough to wake the dead, so you want to only pick up actual waves and splashing from a living creature in the water.

Thanks all! Some great ideas here, I'll review and try to figure out what works best for our situation. Appreciate all the input!
