Here's something useful I found recently....
I had often wondered what people used when displaying their mobile device on a Youtube clip. Not sure if this is what people use, but was one of the first things I came across and it has worked well for me. You can get a representation of your phone on your desktop and control it with your keyboard and mouse, plus make recordings in mp4 and mkv formats. It can work over USB or Wi-Fi. I have found it particularly useful when working with Tasker.
