Android - notifications with sound always

I used to have this working on an older Android version, but since my Pixel 6 Pro updated to Android 14, it doesn't work, and I can't for the life of me remember how I had it working.

I want Hubitat - and ONLY Hubitat - to have volume with its notifications no matter what. No matter if my volume is turned down all the way. No matter if I'm on DND mode. I have all of this working except the sound. If my "notification" sound is down all the way, I do not get audio alerts. This logically makes sense, but I'm positive I used to have a work-around for this. What it did was turn the volume all the way up then play the notification noise. I'd have to again turn the notification noise down if I wanted to --- I use this for HSM, so that's nuance is fine by me.

Anyone know how to get Android 14 to turn the notification volume up before playing a Hubitat notification?

I ended up using the Tasker app to accomplish this.

  1. Install Tasker
  2. Create profile (Event -> UI -> Notification (then select Hubitat as the application))
  3. Assign a task to the profile (Tasks tab, Audio -> Notification Volume -> Up all the way)

Now when I get notifications and my notification volume is down,it turns the volume up all the way. So if HSM goes off and my volume is off, I get an audio alert. Sweet work around.
