Alfred DB1 Auto-unlock not working

I know some people on here have the Alfred DB1. I have tried using the auto-unlock a few times now and the only time I got it to work was by opening the app and letting it connect via bluetooth first, then it was able to work. It is supposed to work without opening the app.

I am using iOS, which may be more problematic than Android I suppose.
I did have the Face ID option enabled in the app, so I just turned that off today to see if that was blocking it from working somehow. Have not left the house again though to test it, since it only works once, when you leave and then come back.

Not a feature I normally use, but just tried it and it works here. I made sure the app was connected to the lock when I set up the one-touch unlock. Face ID is enabled. Do you get the Alfred app notifications when moving out of/coming into the geofenced area? Location services + background app refresh enabled?

Yes to all, get the alerts, get the alert even saying auto unlock is ready, then it doesn't work.
So far it seems like the app does not make the bluetooth connection unless I open it. My phone is an iPhone 11 with iOS 17 so its older but not obsolete. I should be going out today so I can test it again later.

I found some videos from a lady who tested them and she just rode up on her bike, put her hand on it and it unlocked... so that's my expectation.

If it doesn't start working I will have to take it up with Alfred I guess. I have until Jan 31 to return. May have to swap it out for a Yale Assure 2 but I was hoping they would get their zwave module situation sorted out so I could get a ZW3 with S2 security.

This is really the only door where this feature is useful, its from the garage to the house so when we get home that's how we get in. Prior we just did not lock this door often since the garage is closed (and the knob was sort of broken) but wife likes to lock everything up when I am on work trips so may as well use the new deadbolt when we leave as well.

That's how it works here. Hope it gets sorted for you.

Earlier today I increased the timeout to 10 minutes, and just tested it when I got home, worked this time, super quick just like the video I saw. Was possibly the 5 minute time out causing the issue, by the time driving the rest of the way home after entering the geofence zone, getting out of the car, etc... it may have timed out before I tried it.
