Alexa voice commands - cant figure out what i'm doing wrong

I've had this problem for a while....well, actually ever since i switched over to the hubitat, but just getting around to messing with it.

I've got the Alexa App installed and configured within Hubitat and selected all the smart devices. Within the alexa app i enabled the Hubitat skill and have linked the account, and i can see all my smart devices within the alexa app.

all my alexa's and smart devices are all on the same network. Inside the house, if i tell the kitchen echo studio to "turn on the patio lights" it says "do you mean christmas lights". At some point i had a routine or something called "christmas lights" but that was years ago and i cant find any mention of "chrismas lights" in the alexa app.
Here's the strange thing, if i go outside and ask the Echo (that what we have the wake word for the echo dot) "turn on the patio lights" then it turns them on.

I dont have any groups setup in the alexa app, only a "inside" speaker group.

Any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

By chance do you have a spouse that also has an Alexa account? That sounds a lot like problem I have when Alexa is in my wife's account instead of mine.)

Oooooo ....my gf originally set up the Alexa's under her account. That could absolutely be the issue.

How do you change it to all be under mine?

Edit; I just checked and all alexas are registered to me....is it that or soemthing else?

You can ask Alexa what account it is on. It is possible to have them registered to you but switch to another "household" account if you have the Amazon household stuff setup (ex to share a prime membership). It is a very confusing, annoying, and nearly useless feature unless you use it for a lot of music and want separate playlists / favorites.. Not so useful for smart home unless you link it to both accounts and set both up the same.

Also, multiple things you could tidy up.
First make a Group/Room for each room. Include the devices in that room and the Alexa device if the room has one.
Second, as you do this check the device names and make sure they make sense. I usually like to have the room name first then the function. So for example "Kitchen Counter Light", "Kitchen Center Light", etc... The light part at the end is optional.
Third, check in routines, make sure you do not have any leftovers that could muck it up.

Once that is all setup if you have a room named "Patio" then "Turn on the Patio Lights" should work from any device and turn on ALL the lights in the Patio group. IF you are IN the patio you can even use shorthand and say just "Turn on the Lights" and it will turn on the lights in the room the Alexa you spoke to is in.

sonofabitch. Thats it! It was registered to me, but was on my gf's account. i asked her to switch accounts and now it seems to work.

So much headache over something so little.

Thanks a million!

I feel your pain! It's stupid. There should be some kind of coordination across accounts in same home.

Nice catch @stephen_nutt , that's one I would not have thought of. I just knew how to check it because I was messing with a few weeks ago and decided it was worthless.
