Alexa Trouble with Turning off/on all the light in a Group

I have a lot of Z-Wave light switch/dimmers in the house. On HE settings, I didn't setup any scenes, groups, or rooms. They are all just individual switches/dimmers. Turning them on/off individually through the HE App, Web portal, Alexa all works just fine.

In Alexa, I have setup a few groups, i.e. "Downstairs", "Upstairs", "Basement", "All Lights" etc... In Alexa settings, I didn't group any switch/dimmer to any rooms.

When I say "Alexa, turn off Downstairs". The switches in that group will start to turn off one by one. But sometimes, there will be one or two switches/dimmer that don't turn off. Same thing with turning them on. Sometimes one or two don't turn on. Its not the same switches/dimmers that don't turn on/off. If I say the command again, sometimes the remaining switches will turn off. If I go to the Alexa app on the phone, sometimes it shows the switch is off when its actually on, and vice versa. when I tap on that switch, it will refresh and show the correct state.

The problem isn't consistent. Sometimes all of the switches in the respective groups will turn on/off with the Alexa command. But not ALL the time, that's my issue.

I am coming from Samsung Smart Things at my old house, and this problem didn't happened before. I am not using the switches from before.

If anyone has this same issue and has found a solution, please help.

Thank You for your time reading this.

In my experience, this typically happens when I try to turn on/off too many Z-Wave devices at once and the mesh gets overwhelmed. This results in some devices not actually getting the command and hence not responding. It happened most often when I use to have my switches setup with S2 security. Much better now that I re-paired them all without security.

To avoid this, I tend to use presence or motion sensors in each rooms to control lights coming on/off, and only a few at a time. My objective is to never have to touch a switch or ask Alexa to turn on/off a light. Not yet there at 100%, but itโ€™s getting better.

I do have an app that will turn off a set of pre-selected lights off which I use occasionally when going to bed. It has some code in it that checks for lights remaining on and turns them off. Havenโ€™t had any issues with it.
