In the rare case that something works with Alexa but not directly with HE, is there a method of bringing over control to HE?
You can use virtual devices that when changed via HE can execute routines in Alexa.

That's what I was going to default to. I just wasn't sure if I was missing out on a fancier way.
Node Red may help. You can use devices in Alexa, and virtual devices in HE, then automate them in Node Red. I'm doing exactly this.
The Alexa Remote palette allows you to see all devices in Alexa, both those you already have via HE, but also those which are only in Alexa.
