I moved from a Vera hub to a C-8 Pro several weeks ago. All of my devices are now working fine on my Hubatit nub. But the only remaining problem is that Alexa will not connect to my Hubatit hub and will not discover any of my devices. I enabled the Hubatit Skill in Alexa, select the devices I want to control and Allow. Alexa then tries to Discover my devices but doesn't find any. I've been searching the web for weeks for things to do without any luck. All of the old Vera devices were deleted from my Alexa account. I have found several places that say I need to Pair Alexa and the Hubatit hub, but elsewhere I find that it says the pairing is done be Enabling the Alexa Hubatit Shill. Do I need to manually pair Alexa to the Hubatit hub, how do I do that. I put the hub in pairing mode and ask Alexa to pair and I get the response 'I can't help with that'
Hopefully, someone out there can help me get Alexa working with my new Hubatit hub.
The skill will do it for you. There is no need (or way) to put the hub in “pairing mode” to do this.
What specific error or problem do you encounter when you try? Do you have any unusual network configuration at home (or on the hub)? A reboot or network reset are general tips that might help without knowing more.
Nothing unusual in my network. I have tried rebooting many times and it doesn't help. The skill sees all my devices. I select them and click on allow. On the next page Alexa tires to find the devices, but never does. I don't get any errors. I do get an email saying the Hubatit Skill is linked to my Amazon account. But if I ask Alexa to turn on the Den light it responds there is no device called Den Light, but there is. Alexa just doesn't see any of the devices connected to the Hub. If I go into my Alexa account I don't see any connected devices like I did when I had my Vera hub up and working.
Did you check Logs (not just the app UI) for errors?
You might also want to try removing and re-adding the skill (in the Alexa mobile app) in case something got messed up the first time. After removal, also make sure all Hubitat devices are gone from Alexa (it should remove them, but if you end up with duplicate names because this didn't happen before, that could also cause problems or at least confusion).
What about the network reset? See the link here for how:
I hadn't checked the Logs, but I just did that and the only things there were the hub activating my Rules. Nothing about Alexa or Linking with Alexa. I have tried removing the Skill numerous times and re-installing it. I have checked my Alexa acct many times and again just now and there has never been any of my Hubatit devices shown.
I tried to do a clean re-start by removing everything from my Alexa acct and unplugging all my echo devices and then only restarting one echo device, rebooting the Hub and then enabling the skill with just a few things connected and that still resulted in Alexa not finding any of the Hubs connected devices.
I disabled the skill. Then I did the reset. Once the hub was back up and green, I enabled the skill again and it did not find any of my selected devices and Alexa said she didn't find the devices again.
What type of devices did you allow during the initial authorization? If the hub was discovered, and you were able to select devices, the problem may not be related to the network.
I was able to replicate the issue, and we will look into it. Please undo every change you've made. Go back to Ethernet connection. You do not need to enable Wi-Fi on the hub to discover Wi-Fi devices. The problem is on us to fix.
Make sure you disable the skill on Alexa side, and remove the Alexa app from Hubitat, so you can be ready to start fresh. We may not get to it this weekend, but you can expect an update on Monday. Sorry for the inconvenience.
