Alexa echo speakers

Hi All,
Question the new echo speakers that have zigbee if you are doing annoucement for arrival does this still go over internet to amazon or this echos have zigbee stays local ?

Trying to do a announcement when I arrive using a presence but it is always a minute late. Think this is because I have old version of echos no zigbee so the delay is the internet.
