Aeotec ZW078 Heavy Duty Switch

Aeotec ZW078 Heavy Duty Switch. Is this switch supported with any built in driver? I didn't see it on the list so assuming it isn't. @bcopeland

My recollection is that I have used it with the Aeotec Smart Energy Switch driver, or maybe it was the Aeotec Smart Switch 6 driver.

In any event, the device works better with @syepes driver for the Aeotec Heavy Duty Smart Switch.

If you're using z/ip gateway, by default it pairs as an S0 device. You can get around using a secondary controller to pair it with no z-wave security. With ZWaveJS, you can select pairing with no security. Mentioning this because it only works with @syepes driver when paired with no security.

Thanks! I am paired with no security as far as I know.

Hmm - then I am at a loss to understand what is going on (I just saw your other post). I had seen those messages when I had it paired with S0 security, which is what it does by default.

To be honest I can't recall getting asked for the security during pairing.

Can you switch to z/ip gateway and see if it works? I am currently using it on a hub with z/ip gateway and not ZWaveJS.

I think thats my next step

Just a thought. I was having some weird reporting issues with mine after having tried a few different drivers. The issue had been created when I updated some of the settings on one driver that were not available on the other one I switched to. I had a lot of the same issues you were having.

I had to change to a generic "device," (I do not recall the name of it), click configure, and then reset/delete all parameters and then switch back to the driver I wanted to use.

Edited to add that Factory Resetting did not fix my issues either. I HAD to delete all the parameters (indicating to me that the changes being made were being stored on the device itself somehow)

So, it was just "device" in the type. I then went to the commands page and clicked to delete all states and then hit configure.

Then I loaded the driver I wanted to use, hit configure, then I was able to reliably use the new driver and update parameters.

Mine is paired S0. Seems to be working properly. Any reason to change this?

What driver are you using for the device? @syepes driver for it doesnโ€™t seem to work when it is paired as S0. Other drivers may not have that issue.

Yes, syepes driver
But it is marked as NEW....Aeotec Heavy Duty Smart Switch NEW
I cannot remember why the NEW in the driver name.

Can you PM me this driver?

Hmm what's the difference I wonder?

Done.

Not sure. But it works for me. Just wondering if I should change from S0.

I just posted a driver for it if anyone wants to try it - seems to be working fine on C-8 Pro. GPL3 source. GitHub - iamnof1/hubitat-aeotec-zw078-zwave: Hubitat driver for the Aeotec ZW078 Heavy Duty Smart Switch (40A). Full energy monitoring (W, kWh, V, A) plus on/off control.
