had a wallmote that was working as of 6 days ago, after trying charging now will not reconnect. Tried to repair, reset, etc, nothing working. Any clues or device info on how to reconnect?
You may need to Replace it via the Replace button on your Z-Wave Details page.
Do a Refresh on the Wallmote device. If the hub can't find it, it will get the Replace (and Remove) button. You'll want to find Aeotec's manual to remember the Factory reset method (usually for Aeotec it's push the button for 20 seconds) and the device will go into Include mode... click the Replace button on that row of the Z-Wave Details page and it should just drop right back in after a few moments.
Thank you for the help, however, everytime I do it says
should i just remove the device entirely now and try to re-add?
The difference between a Replace and a re-add is the Node number. A replace does an install re-using the existing node number. A re-add uses the next available node number.
The critical part of a Replace is to reset the device WITHOUT the hub finding out. If the hub sees the conversation, it will oblige by deleting the device and all of it's Used By apps. For me, it's trivial, I have 6 hubs and I just use a completely different hub to do an exclude. I could also use one of my Aeon Z-Sticks. IF I had a SmartThings hub still powered up or a Wink or even Home Assistant, I could get one of those to do the Exclude and the Hubitat hub would be none the wiser. It would still have a node number for the wallmote. Then a Repair is just clicking Repair and putting the device into Include.
I Replace a couple times a month.. I often 'borrow' a device that is in-use by one hub, to use it for a few hours on a Development hub to test something. I simply click Exclude on the development hub and tap some device into Exclude. It resets without telling the original hub anything at all. Once my test is concluded, I Exclude the device on the Development hub, thus deleting every use of it. Then, on the original hub, I click Exclude and tap the device into Exclude mode. As far as the hub is concerned it's a brand new, freshly delivered device and the hub says "unknown device excluded" -- which I just love to see. I then click to get a Replace button, click it, and put the device into Include and Replace does it's job and the device drops right back where it was a few hours previously. The point is, I do Replace pretty regularly and know that it works for me. Again the critical thing is that the hub needs to see "a new device" -- a replacement device. That's only accomplished by a Factory Reset, or the Exclude by another hub method.
However, if retaining the current setup is not a big deal, then sure, Exclude the device, which blows away any use of it within the hub and then Include it again... then rebuild your automations.
