Aeotec range extender 7 security

When pairing the range extender you can add S2 security which is useful for locks. To add S2 security you are prompted to add a 5 digit sequence that is printed on the package. I have 2 repeaters and just one box so I put the same number when activating both repeaters. No mention of this option is shown on the device page. How do I know if S2 is active on the connection.

Why? Z-wave devices, that are capable of repeating, do not have to be paired with S2 (or S0) to repeat z-wave transmissions to devices that are paired with S2 or S0 security.

it will show s2: and some number on the device datail page..

Thanks for the replies. So this screen shot would indicate that S2 is not installed.

Would you happen to know if there is a procedure to activate iit,? Neither repeater is showing S2

@ngbergeron Repeaters don't need to be paired as s2 (or s0). The security on the repeater has nothing to do with the security of another device. So if your repeater is repeating for a lock, that lock will still use s0 or s2 regardless.

You do not need or want the repeater installed with security.

Z-Wave security is end to end. In other words, it's a direct agreement between your hub and the lock. Intervening devices (repeaters) do not participate in the security conversation, they just forward (repeat) the packets.

It's the same as when you access your bank on the Internet. The encryption is an agreement between your computer and the bank's server. The routers between you and the bank don't participate in the HTTPS protocol. They just forward the packets.
