How can I tell if the Aeotec extender is working?
C-5 or C-7?
With the C-5 you'll have to use a secondary controller like Z-Wave Toolbox or PC Controller to see routing information.
With the C-7, you can do exactly what @Rxich has suggested.
Don't be surprised if it takes a LONG time for devices to find and switch to your range extender. Once a zwave controller and a device establish a route they will stick with that route until it no longer works, even if the existing route is not optimal. I have zwave extenders that have been in place for months without routing anyone and then all of the sudden they do.
