I bought the Doorbell 6 and it came with a button. I only wanted to use it as a siren so I never fitted the button's battery. I was wondering whether any one knows if I can set up the button as a standalone z-wave button or if it only works with the main unit?
The button is not a Z-Wave device. It communicates with the siren unit using some other protocol.

Ah thanks, saves me spending time trying 
You can set it up to do nothing at the siren but use the event to do what ever you want

I spent so long trying to get the siren to behave as I wanted, I'd be nervous to upset the apple cart
