Has anyone had success updating these on a C7 hub at all?
Mine don't seem to respond at all.
All I get is:
Device did not respond to firmware metadata request

You need to first obtain the firmware for the device (you can get it from aeotec support if it's available) then use the firmware updater under add apps to update it.
I have done that, still nothing,
Also, how long would it take to complete an update?
My Homeseer WD100's are a few revisions back, I started one and it just sits there in the app doing nothing.
if the code is compatible a few mins. You may want to also try using a z-wave stick and the sdk... (what I usually do anyway)
I wonder if the issue is that there is no WD100+ driver in Hubitat, could it be that it doesn't recognize it and won't do the update? See below, it thinks the hardware is. "12".
app:3892022-03-02 08:31:21.663 pm debugFirmwareMdReport(manufacturerId:12, firmwareId:30516, checksum:62145, firmwareUpgradable:false, numberOfTargets:0, maxFragmentSize:null, firmwareIds:[], hardwareVersion:null)
EDIT: It won't work with any of my homeseer devices (100+ or 200+). Something is amiss, but not sure what.
Is it possible to use a stick form an earlier Hubitat hub? I have an older one with the USB stick branded with Hubitat on it.
Most battery powered Z-Wave devices, like the AërQ, must be woken up before they'll respond to commands. According to the manual, a single tap of the button on the front of the sensor should do this. You'll want to do this within probably a second or two of clicking the button to start the update on Hubitat.
The Hubitat driver doesn't matter--mostly. This is all handled at the app level. However, for battery devices, I'd recommend temporarily disabling the device in Hubitat so the driver doesn't send a command to put back to sleep after a wake up report.
The HomeSeer dimmers only have firmware available in HomeSeer's proprietary format, as far as I know. You'd need a HomeSeer "hub" or their firmware update software to do that. This is probably a separate issue.
You can use the stick from an earlier model Hubitat if you want, but you'd need a PC with Z-Wave PC Controller or perhaps some other software controller (this is probably the most used for this purpose). You might be able to get away with joining it to your C-7 as a secondary, or you could exclude it, pair it to the stick, and then re-add it to Hubitat (either as a new node and swap it out on all apps, or with "Replace" if that works for you). But maybe the hub will work now, given the above.
I just did one of mine and it worked after I followed the instructions
@djashones ....did you use the HE built-in Device Firmware Updater app or did you use a Z-wave stick with Silabs PC Controller software? Which instructions did you follow...Aeotec's?
Is the battery level now reporting correctly?
I did both of my aerq units, one didn’t seem to have the battery misreport issue and the other clearly did.
After the update the unit I knew was an issue instantly showed 1%, previously it reported 30%.
I replaced the battery and it reported 100% and has been even since. Before the update it would bounce around battery levels.
The unit I thought was fine went from reporting 80% battery to 30% after the update and has been there ever since. I have some new batteries coming in, this unit will get one so that I have a fresh start.
I’d guess it’s reporting actual levels now as opposed to before.
I used my C7 hub, I had to stand next to the device while holding my laptop, hit the wake-up button, and then it proceeded.
It take awhile to complete but there were no issues.
Still can’t do my homeseer devices, it sees them, sees the current firmware, etc. but it just never kicks off.
I’ve got a usb stick coming so I’ll try that instead.
And it doesn't seem to have worked, new battery last night, barely any activity and the unit now shows 0% battery. Apparently the firmware is bunk.
Not sure if am going to continue using them, I may send them back and find a different unit, or probably go to the TriSensors as I have those and they work great and last forever on a battery,
OK....well, it was worth a try. Thanks for letting us know.
Sonoff are good (avoid aqara)
Just an update - I got some brand new batteries (wanted to try it one more time) and installed it.
Unit went right up to 100% battery, no issues. 12 hours later it reads 0%. So still a no go unfortunately.
I am sending them back and my trisensors will be here Sunday.
Yes, you just need the correct USB-> serial driver. Not sure what chip the Nortek stick uses for serial->USB. CP210 is a common one but not sure with the Nortek
So I have the ZFlash utility form Homeseer, but ay idea on how I can load firmware form it?
Im not using Homeseers app.
If you havbe a z-wave stick you can simply use the silabs software to update it
YEah I tried that too, it recognizes the stick, etc. but I cant seem to get the Homeseer switches to go into pairing mode without resetting them completely.
When you do a firmware update, likely they will be factory reset anyway. so without pairing the stick, run the silabs software, pair the switches to the stick, update the firmware with the silabs software then exclude and re pair with hubitat. A pain I know but I had to do this with a couple of devices.
