I’m preparing to migrate from my C5 to a C8 Pro. I use the C5 for Zigbee devices and a few integrations. All my Zwave and most of my LAN/ Cloud integrations are on a C7. I also have most of my aqara zigbee devices on the C7 to keep them separate from the rest of the zigbee network.
I read the documentation on how to do the migration, but I also have seen a variety of posts from people running into problems with their zigbee network or various devices. Are there any other tips or things to do in advance to minimize issues? Or information I should be sure to have saved before shutting down the C5? Any settings to export or copy?
Thanks!
I was in this boat but slightly different and probably even more complex than you;
- C5 - All of my Zigbee and zwave devices on it
- C7 - Radios off → Dedicated to my new/latest apps and integrations.
Using hub mesh between the two.
2 weeks ago my c5 started randomly freezing up, so I pulled out the C8 (not pro) I had and I did the migration as instructed using the cloud subscription, and to my surprise it was absolutely flawless. in fact things are working better than before.
I’d make the jump. Just follow the steps on backing things up, turning off the C5, and then having your C8 restore from the C5 backup.
One follow-up here. One thing I didn't realize is I needed to disable and then reconnect the Hubitat Skill in Alexa to get it working again. As there you re-auth with the specific (new) hub you have connected.
It took me far too long to figure out why my Alexa routines stopped working.
