I’m preparing to migrate from my C5 to a C8 Pro. I use the C5 for Zigbee devices and a few integrations. All my Zwave and most of my LAN/ Cloud integrations are on a C7. I also have most of my aqara zigbee devices on the C7 to keep them separate from the rest of the zigbee network.
I read the documentation on how to do the migration, but I also have seen a variety of posts from people running into problems with their zigbee network or various devices. Are there any other tips or things to do in advance to minimize issues? Or information I should be sure to have saved before shutting down the C5? Any settings to export or copy?
Thanks!
Do a local backup then do a restore of that backup. That ensures the database is clean. Then update the c5 and the c8 to the latest platform. Then do a shutdown and unplug power for 1 min and power back up. That ensures the radio is clean. Then do the migration. Follow this video. Note: After you do the migration backup from the c5, shutdown the c5 and unplug it. Then power up the c8 and finish the migration

Thanks! You referenced a video but I don’t see anything linked.
A quick question based on your previous advice.
“Do a local backup and then do a restore of that backup.”
Does that remove “corruption” for your database? Does it work for both zwave and zigbee?
Does that do something else besides “rebuild the database” (available from the Settings tabs)?
For the primary database yes
Radio databases are separate. That’s why I recommend the power cycle.
Rebuild database when you reboot does the same thing but older platforms don’t have that option.
