Adding zwave repeater to network question

Sorry for the newb question. I built my zwave network with 4 devices capable of being repeaters. I went from closest to hub out. Then at a later date, I added additional devices that are also repeaters but they are closer to the hub than some of the originals.

When I do a zwave repair, does it go in device ID order for building the routes or by signal strength? Should I rebuild from in to out again?

Also if I have some regular repeaters and now Zwave plus repeaters what is best practice?

The mesh is self building and repairing. You don't get a vote

You can only have a max of 4 repeaters to an end device. As a result, repeaters "reach out" as far as they can to "find" another repeater. In other words the mesh tries to build itself to cover as large an area as it can. As new repeaters get added, in many ways they get ignored, not literally, but in terms of repeater-repeater because of the max limitation.

Start a Zwave repair, go to bed, wake up in the morning to a better mesh.

Thanks! I wasn't looking forward to doing a mass exclude/Include and rebuilding rules. Should I be worried about replacing first gen repeaters with Zwave plus devices?

I would not rush out and do a mass replace. It's more than likely it will work. If you do find a repeater that's not playing nicely, replace that one. Secure pairing, like for any "barrier device" (door locks, garage door openers, etc.) are where you might discover an issue.
