I cannot find my Amazon Basics Smart A19 LED Light Bulb, I just purchased my Hubitat and expected to easily add my dozen or so Smart Bulbs but this is not a brand listed. What am I doing wrong?
Hi and welcome to the community!
Unfortuantely, that's a wifi bulb, and Hubitat has very limited support for wifi devices in general. This is because wifi devices are typically cloud-dependent and restricted to the manufacturer's own walled garden. Exceptions may be possible for wifi devices that have a public API, but I'm pretty sure Amazon's Basic stuff doesn't have that - they're really designed solely for easy integration with Alexa (which a cloud-dependent ecosystem).
Hubitat is focused on supporting devices that are Zigbee, Z-Wave, and now Matter too -- such devices enable local control with no dependency on the cloud.
Hello - I would recommend you check this list out:
Most WiFi devices use proprietary cloud servers. I suspect that is probably true of your Amazon light bulbs.
If this is the Amazon Basics bulb you purchased, the Amazon listing indicates that it ONLY works with Alexa.
Here's an example of a zigbee full color bulb that works with multiple systems including Hubitat (and Amazon Echo devices). It is also cheaper (for the 4-pack) than the Amazon Basics bulb.
