I've tried all the SmartStart App steps for when adding a device fails and still having issues getting it to join.
The one "problem" with this device is that it has a 10 year battery and you cannot power it down after activation.
Tried in the Hubitat app too. In fact, the ONLY time the hub saw this devices was the first exclude I ran. It now never sees anything.
Any other ideas...? thx. Of course this isn't "listed" as a supported device. I'm just thrilled to find a zwave version with a 10 year battery this time around (my old ZCOMBO in the garage finally died)
I just installed two of these today to replace my ZCOMBO units (one of which woke me in the middle of the night to say it was at end of life!). I was able to pair the SMCO410 by:
Scanning the SmartStart code before activating it (before putting it into its mounting ring).
I then placed it in the ring (I was able to use the same mounting rings as were already up for the ZCOMBO units). It beeped once.
Within about 10-20 seconds, it was found and available.
I changed the driver to the Z-Wave Universal Smoke/CO Detector driver.
Same procedure for the second one. Both included quickly.
I agree that the instructions with the unit are written assuming these are being used in a Ring system. However, I think that holding the test button until it beeps THREE times (around 20 seconds) would put it in pairing more (might also factory reset).
I bought two of these and just tried to install the first one. No matter what I tried, it will not include. I tried SmartStart. I tried manual inclusion. No matter what, Hubitat just won't see it. I did get it to exclude but never to include.
I had a couple of ZCOMBO units that reached EOL and when to replace them (after they woke us up in the middle of the night. Isn't that the rule) and couldn't find a suitable replacement. This is when I learned that smoke detectors have a 10-year life. I decided to go with the regular smoke/CO detectors (mine are all hardwired and interlinked) with a Zooz ZEN55 bridge. If you have interlinked, hardwired detectors, this is a much more elegant solution and having baked bacon a couple of times, it works great.
I ran into this same issue and was wondering if those that could not get these devices included were ever able to include them. I purchased two of these new. I put the ring on the first one before attempting to add but I wanted it up and in place. I now tried to add it to Hubitat using the SmartStart. It says the device is included from the SmartStart page but the device does not show up in the device list. I attempted to add the second one this time performing the SmartStart add before attaching the ring and activating the detector. It shows up in the SmartStart display as not being included. I have attempted to factory reset, exclude, and include using the manual zwave methods but the device is never recognized. Did anyboy come up with a solution to add these devices or am I out of luck? I am running C7 at 2.4.4.133.
Edit: I reset my hub and now both devices show Not Included in the SmartStart display and do not show up in the device list.
If they show “pending” in smart start then they are not yet included. I just went through this with some ZSE70’s. Once you scan the QR code and go through what you think is the include cycle, you need to wake the device, revisit in smart start, save, tumble and repeat. Unless I haven’t read the right document it’s not fluid.
