As it stands the Device Type only shows when you click the device itself. If it were it's own column we could use it for the long stupid names we use to sort and group like, "Living Room - Lamp - Leviton Outlet", and keep the Label (Name) for the short version, "Reading Lamp". Except for a few virtual devices the Device Type is just a copy of the Driver name.
No major rewrite required, just add the Device Name to the Device page and give it the little sort buttons. How we use it is up to us.
