ActionTiles

Took me less than a day to switch over to HD+. Kinda glad actiontiles is gone.
Looks Good!

Hi Team....any news or feedback on this?

I have made the change to SharpTools and it looks pretty good. It's not quite as easy to use as ActionTiles but the functionality is all there (opinion).

I was waiting to update my home Kiosk Panels in hopes there was some good news.

Thanks,

John

Nada. The domain remains offline, as do all related services. I moved to HD+ this morning. Gives me all I need. Might not look quite as slick but the Android tablet I have on the wall is working well.

For those considering Sharptools, they posted a discount link in the Smartthings community.

I've got it up and running and overall I like it more than Actiontiles.

At this point, I'm pissed. To shut down a service with absolutely no notice is BS. Alex left so many of us completely up sh*ts creek. What happened is inexcusable.

Well, there's not a lot we can do about it. All points agreed, but it is what it is. If you haven't done so have a look at HD+. Took me minutes to setup and it's doing 90% of what I need. The only consideration is that you need an Android tablet. Image attached from an Amazon tablet.

It was (afaik) a one man operation. And we still have no idea what happened.

Get pissed off if you like, but as @brumster just alluded to, it won’t accomplish much.

So much drama over what is ultimately a readily replaced user interface.

As i recall Action tiles never left beta on Hubitat.

I was a long time user of Action Tiles, and got it years ago when I was still on ST. I paid for it then, but they never got a dime from me for it to work on Hubitat. I don't think anyone on Hubitat actually had to pay for it. Was a previous license on ST needed to use it on Hubitat.

No matter how you look at it, the fact you had any access to use Action Tiles on Hubitat was pure darn luck and a gift from the very beginning. It would be a good idea to remember that when before getting emotional about this situation.

Non of us have any right to be upset with the folks who run Action Tiles.

My guess is that it wasn't a sustainable bussines situation. It takes power and infrastructure to run the backend right. How were they/him making any money to support the solution.

If you ask Google about what is happening to Action tiles it apperas that it has been on barrowed time for the last year as well.

My favorite users are the ones who pay nothing, contribute nothing, and still feel overcharged.

That is correct.

I think for anyone that paid for an Actiontiles subscription on Smartthings, it's perfectly acceptable to be upset that the service just disappeared without any notice, regardless of if we're still using Smartthings or were using the Hubitat beta. In the end Sharptools is better overall for me, and I don't mind paying for it, but if the Actiontiles dev didn't want to do it anymore there should have been some sort of message sent out just as a courtesy.

Sure but what if that’s not even close to what happened?

I’m not saying I know why it shut down. No one here does.

But I am suggesting we give the one remaining dev the benefit of the doubt rather than assuming he made a choice to abandon it primarily for the purpose of screwing other people over.

As Bobby mentioned above, the last time most of us got an update re: the personal lives of the AT developers a few years ago, it was because one of them died suddenly.
