Accessing Device activity states for old Zigbee devices

I used Device Activity Check for all my battery notifications and it works great.
I have about 7 old SmartThings v1 motion sensors and after 10 years they still work wonderfully.
I can't track battery usage as they don't report this state.
I was trying to use DAC to trigger on "Last Avtivity at" but that doesn't seem to do anything.
These devices always report in Settings | Zigbee Detail -> Last Message regularly.
So the question here is does the app have to have a State reflectiing the Last Message for it to work.
I'm guessing that's where the app gets it's testable values from and so there is no way to keep an eye on these older devices.

The app relies exclusively on the "Last Activity At" data as reported on the device detail page when using the "Last Activity At" detection method. The lower-level Zigbee data is not available on all hub models and is not currently used by the app at all.

On this sensor, I think this only happens when you have motion. (Used to have one too, but I have to change its AAs more frequently than the batteries in any other device I have, and I got tired enough of that and the fact that the case broke years ago and was taped together. )

Yes, in the states there is only Motion :frowning:
I have Li rechargables in all of them as they do have a shorter lifespan than my newer sensors.
Oh well. I'll just keep the Status Quo. Walk into a romm and wonder whyl the lights failed.
Blame HE once and then check the batteries.

Don't those also report temp? I still have an older Samsung SmartThings V1 Motion sensor and it also gives me temperature with the Generic Zigbee motion sensor driver. I see that it updates Last Activity At when the temp changes as well, which happens fairly regularly even if there is not any motion.

Do you not have a temp attribute because of the driver you are using? That would probably mostly solve your problem if you can get temp reporting to update Last Activity At more often for DAC.

No, the V1 SmartThings motion sensor only reports motion. This is the Kickstater-era model that runs on two AA batteries. I'm not even sure it's ZHA, as staff had to do some magic to make it work early on (and it actually pairs with the motion driver that includes temperature because the other didn't exist yet back then) -- but it has for me with all hub models C-3 through C-8 Pro so far.

I think it's so old and possibly short-lived that some people forget it is the original and think of something else, maybe V2, as "V1." Thanks to the Internet Archive, I can still find this, though some images are missing:

v2 reported motion and temp.

On the ST platform, the V1 Motion Sensor also reported whether it was running on USB power or batteries. This made it pretty ideal for monitoring power outages for a specific outlet. I do not believe this functionality was ever ported over to Hubitat, though.

I don't think so, either, and it's been so long that I actually forgot ST did that.

I still have mine in a box in the basement (baby's first motion sensor -- apparently sentimental value, ha) and I'm pretty sure it works despite my dislike for the batteries and having broken the latch or whatever used to hold the case together, so maybe if I get time...

Ah, I've had mine so long I thought it was V1. I guess not. It came with my from back in my SmartThings days.

That Battery/USB thing rings a bell.
I've been off ST for so long now.
