Hello,
I need to rubber band an accelerometer to my kid's medication bottle so I know that he actually took his meds.
Kindly provide your favorite battery powered accelerometer.
Thanks!

I used the original Aqara vibration sensor that was attached to the lid with a command strip. Worked well.
Was it that small? Wow.
1.42" x 1.42" x 0.35"
You might want to put the meds in a pill dispenser. You can get them with 1, 2 or 4 slots for each day of the week. That way, both you and he can know if the pill has been taken. You can get them at local pharmacies as well as online. Every Saturday, fill up the dispenser for the coming week.
Then you could secure a vibration sensor/accelerometer to the dispenser.
For general use, I am a big fan of the Third Reality vibration sensors. However, for this use, it is too large. I would recommend one of the Tuya-based vibration sensors. I have a couple of Moes sensors that use the Tuya platform.
Why use a physical solution when I can create one dependent upon battery power, Internet connectivity and flawed programming logic?!?
If these are Zigbee, why does the listing state, " Requires Aqara Hub (not 3rd-Party)?"
The short answer is - the same reason Tuya zigbee devices often indicate they only work with the Tuya hub, or Iris devices were advertised to work with the Iris hub.
The long answer is that before zigbee 3.0 became the norm vis-a-vis coordinators, Aqara devices did not stay connected to many coordinators. Especially if they only supported ZHA 1.2.
There are a sufficient number of community drivers for older Aqara devices like the one you linked to, and as indicated by Amazon reviews, the device works well with Hubitat.
If I were you, I would get the T1 version of that sensor, because it is a zigbee 3.0 device.
I'd do this along w/the vibration sensor just so @Busthead can say "I automated it!!" ![]()
Seriously, the pill dispensers are the only 100% reliable path (which I use as well)...vibration just tells you that the container was picked up/knocked over/moved. The "Wednesday" container on the dispenser is empty or it isn't. ![]()
It appears the new T1 (model number VB-S01D) isn't for sale anywhere...Amazon, Home Depot, Walmart, Newegg, none have it in stock.
