Has anyone ever considered using Hubitat to control a 7 segment display or an analog/digital dial? I have a dashboard that I use to display most of my data on a tablet screen, but I think it would be fun to build a more retro control panel style dashboard that uses dials and simple number displays.
Not a 7-segment indicator but I am using 8x64 addressable led matrix controlled by Pixelblaze as a message board. Of course it is integrated with HE.
I'd be interested in learning more about that. Does it use MQTT? Does it push data from Hubitat sensors to the display?
Please search HE forum for the "Pixelblaze". I have many (18) Pixelblaze-based projects and many related posts. This project is a modified for my specific application a "scrolling text marquee 2D.js" pattern designed for Pixelblaze I found long time ago on the Electromage.com (home for Pixelblaze) web site. There is a very nice HE driver written by @zranger1 for the simplest Pixelblaze integration with HE (it is 100% local direct WiFi integration, no need for MQTT, etc.). Certainly I can share original and modified Pixelblaze pattern(s) and even related RM rules. But because I don't want to post a lot of SW Code please ask a specific question(s). In short, only data from the Sensors passed to this matrix display. All labels and colors are handled locally right on Pixelblaze.
That looks pretty interesting and more convenient than other options. Reminds me a bit of WLED which I do have working with Hubitat already. Aesthetically I'm looking for something smaller and more in line with the smaller 7 segment display, but I'll need to research this option more
