How long do your thermostats last with the AA batteries? I went ahead and bought these from the eBay link and will probably install them this weekend.
Quite a while for me, I think it’s been at least a year since I changed them.
So, I may have been premature in popping the champagne cork on my Zen thermostat. It can be discovered and joins the Zigbee network successfully, and works fine for a few hours, then it drops off. I have re-paired it twice now and getting a bit frustrated. I moved a zigbee wall plug to act as a repeater about 5 metres away, and I can see when it initially connects that it is using the repeater. Does anyone have any zigbee troubleshooting tips? I have not had any issues with any of my other zigbee devices.
If anyone is interested in following my saga on keeping the Zen on the Zigbee network, I created a new thread here:
I am now fearing that a battery powered thermotat simply won't stay on a Zigbee network.
@marktheknife’s experience with the Centralite Pearl suggests that it works fine on batteries.
I was previously using 2 KONOz Zigbee thermostats on batteries without issue.
I haven't had the chance to play with the Centralite (this weekend), but I do plan on using them with batteries (Tenavolts). I'll let you know if I run into any issues of them falling off my network.
That is correct. I can’t speak for any other zigbee thermostats.
But I see no reason why that type of device would be unable to remain connected to a zigbee network while battery powered, as a general rule.
