2 separate Amazon Alexa accounts

Hi, is it possible to have 2 seperate Alexa accounts linked to one Hubitat Hub. All on the same network?

Basically my mother in law lives in a granny flat adjoining our house. We share the same network and Hubitat hub but she has a seperate Amazon Alexa account for her bits and bobs so we don't get conflicting Amazon reminders etc etc

I'd like her to be able to control some of her Hubitat bulbs etc via her own echo dots but don't know if the Hubitat Amazon Echo skill can be added twice?

I don't think that is possible. I don't recall hearing about someone doing that, but possible someone else has tried?

I would think that adding a second hub, and meshing the devices you desire to share between the two would be the easiest way to keep things truly separate.

Yeah I dont think there is an easy way to do it.
Besides a second hub, another thing I can think of would maybe be Home Assistant or Node Red (can you share devices from Node Red???) if you have a NAS or server running? You could share the devices from HE to HA, then to Alexa. Would be about the same as adding a second HE hub, but possibly free if you already have the hardware going that can run HA.

I am not sure, but did you try to add a second Alexa integration to the hub? Did it bomb out? Did it automatically assume the existing (your) credentials, or could you put MIL credentials in there.

Now I am curious if it might work. I only have one Amazon account, so I can't try.

Take a local backup first if you do try this though! Not sure what the ramifications of even trying this are?

Apps can be set so that you cannot install multiple instance, the Echo skill is one of those. Trying to add it again just opens the existing app.

I know with some you can install multiple times and others they disallow it. I didn't try, was just thinking out loud. Thanks for the clarification. Too bad, that might have been the easy way.

So I guess back to hubmesh with another hub being the easy way. It could even be a C5/C7 if @stueyhughes could find one of these cheap, or has one laying around.

@stueyhughes - if you want a C-5, I have a spare one that you can have for $25 + shipping.

As @neonturbo suggests, just share a subset of the devices on your main hub to the C-5 using Hub Mesh, and run a separate Echo Skill on the C-5, authenticated using your mother-in-law’s credentials.

PM me if you want the C-5.

Thanks for the offer and indeed your advice. I might upgrade to a C8 soon so I'll have a C7 surplus to requirements to initiate this. I suppose I have a relatively unique case but I assume there are others out there who would benefit. Families who have kids with their own Alexa not linked to the parents household account for example. @bravenel is it a feasible enhancement to be able to add an additional Amazon Echo Skill?
