Any way you can use two hubs on one Alexa account….the issue is that I have two locations….my home and my MotorHome and I would like to use voice control in both locations but the integration app does not allow me to link both hubs at the same time…any way to resolve this?
There are two ways:
- Use two separate Alexa accounts - one for each hub.
- Share devices from the motor home hub to your home hub using HubConnect (since Hub Mesh will not always work with your motor home). And then use a single Alexa integration.
I am a newbie, but it sound like the hubconnect option will be good, do I need a subscription to run it? Not sure how to set that up since I have both hubs separated by 75 miles and 2 internet providers…..I would rather go with one Alexa account and if I can have access to both hubs that would be cool….dont want to create separate streaming accounts for music, prime tv etc either.

HubConnect is the community driver that was developed prior to Hub Mesh. It is essentially the same thing but also connects to other devices like SmartThings and allows for more creative networking.
I forget the root cause but as noted, the Alexa integration is a 1:1 relationship. You can only use one hub per Amazon account. For me the issue was with text to speech since only one hub could drive that. I have been moving to HomeKit and Sonos.
You could setup a VPN between the two locations but then it would add even more steps to the connection.
RV Echo -> Home HE Hub -> Echo integration -> VPN -> RV HE Hub (or something like that. )
It could work but isn't ideal.
HubConnect, as mentioned, was created long before Hub Mesh became available. Hundreds of us used it before HubMesh came along. Because it's a community developed package, it needs to get added to the hub first. HubMesh is built in. However, once added to the hub, the rest of the setup "weighs about the same"
Both require that you enable on each hub first, then once the interconnect is complete, start allowing devices to use that connection. How that is done is quite different but just knowing the goal is similar might help.
HubConnect was developed with a RV in mind from very early on. HubMesh, as a native Hubitat app does not utilize their cloud, the hubs must be local to each other. HubConnect does utilize the cloud for non-local connections. HubConnect setup has a single click to choose non-local/cloud, but is otherwise identical to local hubs. You will then select devices to be 'mirrored' to some other hub, and similar to HubMesh, the devices will quickly appear on the other Hub. The result is the two HubConnected hubs communicate via Hubitat's cloud and you can have all the RV devices mirrored to a Hub at your home, as well as mirroring devices from the hub at home to the RV.
My solution for two locations(not an RV) was to get a Fire tablet on sale and use it for a dashboard at the second location. I created a new amazon account through another email address and I changed its wake word to amazon. So I can use voice commands to hubitat by saying "amazon, do blah blah" but we still have alexa devices around the second house so we can still add to our shopping lists and everything else we do with alexa.
When I upgraded my hub and took my old C7 to another location, I solved this problem by adding a YoLink hub and fob. Not exactly ideal, but for the few music routines I needed, It's working great. I believe there is a Hubitat integration app as well although I haven't attempted to integrate it.
