I got a new C-8Pro yesterday and this morning I attempted a migration from one of my ZWave only Hubs. It's a C-8 to C-8Pro migration. Both hubs began on v2.4.1.151 and had ZWJS enabled. A fresh cloud backup was taken from the C-8 hub and then a shutdown, power off.
Migration was started on the C-8Pro and ZWave + FileManager files were selected. The migration seemed to complete correctly but there are zero ZWave devices on the hub. Seen that before so I rebooted... no change, so I power cycled.. no change.. so I re-Migrated, just ZWave... no change.
I'm going to have to 'factory reset' this new C-8Pro so that I can put the old hub back into Production. Then I can make a practice run from a C-7 to the C-8Pro and learn the limitations.
It can, it's just a "use at your own risk" sort of thing, since a significant number of C7/8 hubs experienced memory-related issues on JS during the beta. That's led to a 8-Pro only recommendation for now - hopefully, they can make greater headway on the memory issues.
They "officially" can't, in reality, a C8 radio can run ZWJS - but it creates alot of memory pressue. There was a period during the beta, when that option was enabled, so yeah, there are endpoints where you can "force" ZWJS to be enabled on a C8. That all said, there was a bunch of secondary problems that showed up, depending on other memory loads on the hub.
Staff ulimately decided to limit it to the C8P, which has 2x the RAM. So it REQUIRES the 800 series radios - You could possibly "shoe horn it in, on a C8" - It definitely "doesn't fit" with Matter also enabled. But ZWJS on a C8 is an "all bets are off" sort of thing, and that approach would have no support - given the issues that have been discovered, all depending on RAM usage exclude the ZWJS libraries (which are indeed bigger than ZIP)
That all said, there may be a few beta users that still have ZWJS enabled on a C8. I'm not sure if the beta endpoints to force it on still exist or not (they likely do) - But again, it's definitely not a preferred nor supported configuration. But it MAY work for you. And memory usage may be further optimized in the future to allow this on a C8 (or as you mentioned, we may get a C9 someday with 4G)
They do still exist.. But very much at your own risk..
Now having said that, my production hub is still a C-8 (non-pro).. I have ZWaveJS/Matter/LIFX/HomeKit all enabled and no issues. But I also have no dashboards, maker api, etc.. So it will be a different experience for each person.
