It look like this bug was missed in the long feedback thread.

I'd say this is just an expected consequence of the fact that the driver name/type isn't visible in grid view. Turn off the column in list view, where it's shown by default, and you'll see the same behavior, presumably only looking for what's visible.
I understand the explanation but I would think that a search, regardless of which view you select, would show the same devices.
I don't think it behaved this way in 2.3.9 but I'm too lazy to roll back.
