I have a pool light that I'd like to dim. It's controlled by a standard 120v power switch which leads to a transformer which connects to the light. A 120v dimmer before the transformer is out. Will a led light dimmer, like the ones we use for strip lighting work in this situation?
Is the light dim-able? Not all are. Is the transformer out DC, or AC?
My outdoor LV lighting is 12VAC, and it's on/off. They will come on down to 8v, but at the same level as 12v. Below 8v nothing.
Fibaro controler might work if it is 12VDC and dim-able. I use one to controlled a POE feed exhaust fan raise/lower.
It should be dimmable, its incandescent. I'll have to check if the transformer out is AC or DC. The model is Tork tpx300. The label on the outside doesn't mention either so I'd say it's probably AC in and out. I thought all low voltage was DC until you asked. More reading for me, more advice welcome.
- Input Voltage: 120 or 240VAC, 60Hz
- Output: 12, 13 & 14 VAC, 300 Watts Max
I have not found a smart VAC dimmer yet, if you do please pass it along. You can do it with manually rheostat style dial.
I've looked in every corner of the internet and can't find a dimmer for 12v AC. The bulb in the pool light fixture can be changed out for an LED. Could I add an inline led strip controller to dim it? My grasp of matters electrical are tenuous at best. I'd need another transformer to go from 12v AC to 5v DC. Or find another transformer from 120v AC to 5v DC, over a long distance, about 30 feet and connect that to the LED controller. I'm still very open to any suggestions or advice.
