I am trying to connect smartwings z wave lr blinds to the hub. How do i do inclusion? I've added the device by scanning the qr code and it says pending inclusion. Ive ran the inclusion thing manually and messed with pairing button on the blinds, i was able to add 2,i really don't know what i did. I feel this ui is not very user friendly. Would appreciate any step by step help
I have several Zigbee SmartWings shades so I don't have direct experience. But, let me give some general advice. I found the instructions from SmartWings to be correct but you have to follow them exactly. Seems like all their blinds/shades etc have the same manual for Z-Wave inclusion. I would start with excluding them (their manual calls it "Resetting" the Z-Wave network." And then starting again. They are not really IR blinds. I believe it uses only RF to talk to the blinds from the remote. The manual is online too if that's easier to follow along. https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0573/0215/5461/files/SmartWings_Z-wave_Motor_Programming_Guide_cb52ae04-036e-446c-bff2-6e944bedbb5f.pdf?v=1754441184
I would pair it without S2 security. In general things work better and pair easier without it. I only use S2 with door locks personally.
Let us know how it goes! Also, their support via chat is pretty helpful. They work Central time IIRC.
Thank you! I've slowly been getting them connected. Some work with going through the inclusion process, others seem to just connect after scanning lol, i don't get it exactly but it's working i guess. I appreciate your advice, that was actually helpful to get these connected faster
If you use SmartStart you just scan the QR code and wait little bit, they will pair. If they are not pairing it is possible they are out of range and/or weak signal.
DO NOT scan the QR code and then try to manually pair, you will have two processes trying to fight each other when pairing.
I recommend using SmartStart, once you understand how it works it is nice and easy.
See my SmartStart tips here: [APP] SmartStart Manager for Z-Wave (Long Range support) - #2 by jtp10181
Here are official docs on Zwave Pairing, it covers traditional and SmartStart: Z-Wave Manual | Hubitat Documentation
ALSO, after your struggles you should probably check your Zwave details page for "ghost" nodes and try to remove them before you continue. Read section 1 here: How To Remove Ghost Devices using hub tools or a UZB Stick
Also the device might not be ready for SmartStart inclusion.. Factory reset of the device will put most devices into SS inclusion mode..
Thank you, got them all connected finally. Appreciate your help
