I am running the current HE firmware. After last nights ST outage I am now moving all of my automation to HE. The issue is I can't seem to add and zwave devices unless I physically reboot the HE hub. I have also excluded these devices but still have issues. Any suggestions?
All of my zwave switchs are Zooz Dimmer or Toggle Switches.
I recently converted my house over to Hubitat. I actually found that often times the Zooz Dimmer/Toggles were NOT excluding correctly. Here is the process that worked well. Unfortunately it required using a Aeotec Zwave Stick I had lying around.
Put AZS (Aeotec Zwave Stick) in exclusion mode (hold down the button until it flashed red)
Click the Zooz switch OFF 3 times quickly. Note: NOT on-off-on-off-on-off; The sequence I used was off-off-off.
Verify exclusion by the blue light on the AZS
Put Hubitat in Device Discovery Mode
Click the Zooz switch OFF 3 times quickly. (see # 2).
Sometimes I had to repeat this procedure a few times.
Other notes:
My initial switches were close to the Hubitat hub and I built out in distance.
It took quite a few tries the further I was from the hub and finally made the Zooz switches the LAST thing I added.
Once paired, I have had no issues
My house is a combo of GE and Zooz. The GE switches are much more responsive to the procedure above.
So what if you only have the physical buttons to push? Just three times irrespective of what specific function it does is how I interpreted the directions. I don't have an AZS, I only have a Smartthings Hub and a Hubitat Bub which is not seeing this stupid powerstrip like it should. I've done everything I know is available:
Zooz ZEN20 Factory reset - X 2
Zooz ZEN20 Exclusion - X 1,000
Hubitat Firmware Update - X 1
Hubitat Z-Wave Stick Reset - X 1
Hubitat Cursed with Colorful Language - X 4,000,000
Hubitat Z-Wave secure setting off
Some please make this stupid thing work. I'm not far from just configuring it with my Smartthings Hub again. Yes again, but alas I excluded it from Smartthings and conducted the ZEN20 factory resets after immediately after I did that. I also deleted the two Device Handlers in Smartthings which were needed to work. Why isn't Hubitat seeing it?!?!??!!? Why don't things just work????
I am not gonna lie Zooz is a PIA with HE. I have found just excluding the device from ST doesn’t work. You need to exclude the devices in HE too. This isn’t a HE issue but rather Zooz. Their implementation of exclude and discovery for zwave is hokey. ST is a bit more gracious than HE for discovery BUT because of this Zooz is a lot more unstable with ST verses HE. After I ported over to HE I have had zero issues with my Zooz switches. Just an FYI.
Do the following:
open three browser windows accessing your HE hub (I usually do this with a mobile device or laptop)
one going to zwave details
the second to logs
the third devices
put HE into zwave exclusion
switch back over to the logs
turn on your Zooz switch
wait a couple seconds (breath and count to 2)
on Zooz switch press the off button three times consecutively but not rapid fire
look at the logs and see if Hub appears. If it did click on it and you should see device has been excluded. If not wait 2 seconds and repeat. If the zwave exclusion expires restart the exclusion. IF after a few attempts it doesn’t work hard reboot HE (power unplugged after you shut it down). If STILL not working do a Zwave mesh repair and then repeat all these steps.
wait for zwave exclusion to finish
switch to devices tab in browser
select discover devices
ensure switch is on, wait and breath
Press on three times consecutively but not rapid fire
device should be found but device driver not detected
rename and click save
click devices, search for your device and edit
set device driver to generic zwave switch or generic zwave dimmer switch
Rock on, it finally worked. Since obscure posting in here said to unplug, press and hold the number 5 bottom, plug in, maintain #5 yin for 5 seconds and release. TADAAAA.
I appreciate the help though, I can now reset the modem whenever the intense goes down (happens a lot... Comcast), and now just need to figure out how to is Hubitat trigger when Wifi stays connected but Internet Connectivity is lost. #VirtualDevicesAreEasyInTasker
With Comcast you would be best to invest in your own modem. You will get faster speeds as Comcast can’t regulate your modem as well as their Motorola devices.
