I have had a ZSE42 (Zooz water sensor) paired with my C7 for several months. I decided to redo my Z-Wave devices and change from S2 to NONE on security. I successfully unpaired the device but have so-far failed to re-pair.
I have done a hard reset on the device and the 1 min power off on the C7 but get NO activity with either include or exclude.
There is a V 1.50 firmware for the ZSE42 that has this in the change log "Data packets changed to 5-byte to help address inclusion, range or secure inclusion issues"
I wonder if I am being bitten by this...
Has anyone successfully paired a ZSE42 with the latest firmware ??
Watching -- I have one (my first) arriving on Tuesday... I'm guessing it won't come with 1.5 since they just recently released that, but I was planning to do that update once I got it added.
Hope not to derail too much here, but Jeff -- I think you have a C8... If so, have you by chance tried any device-level f/w updates with any S2 devices?
I'm curious if the inability (or near impossibility) to update S2 devices persists on the C8 too.
Since Zooz has pushed out a decent number of f/w updates in April so far, I figured this may be a good time to ask -- thanks!
I paired 16 of them on my C8 previously with no security (not specifically on version 125 though), they are all at 1.4 firmware.
Maybe your zwave radio is gummed up? Did you try an orderly shutdown and power pull on the hub, wait 30s, power back up and then re-try pairing? I know when I was doing my 90+ pairs when I got my C8 I had to do that multiple times when the inclusion process would get stuck...
Yep did that Z-Wave hard reset on the hub and the device hard reset as described on the Zooz website.
That is why I am wondering about an incompatibility with .125 firmware.
I have no phantom devices listed in the Z-Wave details page.
I have not tried but it is unlikely to be fixed since it appears to be an issue with the app itself. The old update driver worked when the app would not.
I did indeed add two 42s to my C8 in the past week - one last Tuesday, and one last Saturday. Both included fine (no security - I don't use S2 for anything), and I was able to update both to 1.5 with no major fuss.
I didn't use SmartStart for inclusion - I always just do the traditional inclusion, and both popped up right away once I started the inclusion.
