ZSE41 Battery Reporting

At a friends house we have a ZSE41 contact sensor. About a month ago it reported a battery level of 22. Still worked so didn't worry about it to much. Yesterday he replaced the battery. It still shows 22. Reading the manual seems to indicate that it only reports low battery, not sure about this. But shouldn't it show the replacement battery?

In general, the last reported value will remain until the device sends an updated value, which wonโ€™t necessarily be an immediate thing after the battery has been replaced.

Is there some interval it uses? Itโ€™s been about 18 hours so far.

If at default settings, I think it should check in every 12 hours, but I swear some of my Zooz sensors do 24 (but I'm too lazy to actually verify that).

You can always do a 4x button press to manually wake up the sensor.

Well it's been over 36 hours now and no change in battery. I kinda question the fact that there is no refresh or configure button to kinda trigger the unit. It's over 2 hours away from here so no button pushing till I can go there. Asking my friend to push the buttton is just asking for trouble...

I suggest you try @jtp10181 's driver.
The system driver is crap.

Dumb question (so forgive me) Did you click refresh on the device's page?

good luck with that

Thought it had a refresh button

No Most battery devices is going to will not respond to an on-demand Refresh or Configuration command without first waking it up.

Not totally true. My iblinds and several of my sensors do...

Probably want to check the log, if he's getting that 22% number off the device page.

ZWave sleepy devices do not respond ever, unless they are by chance awake (usually for ~30 seconds every 12 hours). So to avoid confusion Hubitat removed the refresh ability from most/all those zwave drivers. I usually include an alternate refresh command in my drivers which also then shows warning text that you have to manually wake the device up.

Zwave FLIRS will respond and Zigbee devices I have found sometimes will respond.
