you aint kiddin! I just came here searching for info on this- I'm not new to Zooz, have a house full of their stuff but just got my 1st two ZSE70's last week, only mounted one so far and the darn think snapped - I emailed them and they were super nice about it, shipping a replacement out right away. I was out of town and just got back over the weekend I decided to take the back off the other new one to get it back up before the replacement got here- snap, Now I have two broken with one replacement back on the way. I feel like there has to be a better way to mount this and I may try to just bend a piece of metal for a makeshift bracket and use the screw cap on the bottom (since im just running on battery) as a mount point instead.
Dont know how you all keep breaking those. Is the mount point on the back cover breaking? The little fins that hold the arm to the back? I think it is the same design as the ZSE11. Maybe my early test sample is more robust than the final product, I dont see how I could break mine.
yep the mount point on the back battery cover - two little slivers of plastic is all that holds on... the only other motion sensors I have are ZSE18 with the magnetic mount - that is perfect, but I can see where outdoor maybe a physical connection is preferred.
Here's the two of mine that broke:
...and my makeshift cardboard prototype for a different mount ~ think this will work if just use some sheet metal
This is exactly the problem I keep having. I think the material is either too thin or too soft. Itโs fine if you put it up and never have to take it down again. But seems like if I do have to take it down, those clips crack.
It is. I have the same problem with both of them. Zooz has been great about replacing them backs, but eventually they may not be. I really think itโs a material flaw. The fins need to be thicker, or made with a harder plastic.
just rigged up a home made mounting bracket from a piece of scrap aluminum - not the prettiest but I think it will hold

Well done. Seems stable/secure, and I think would get at least a "Looks alright" approval rating at our house. ![]()
A quick coat of paint and I think it would blend right in
I'm trying to understand how these last few posts are related to the thread topic?
they arent - and I thought about how it was off topic but I was replying to the OP so figured it was somewhere in the gray ![]()
I don't know what you are talking about, this is its own separate thread... ![]()
(I just split it off)
Knock on wood. I have 5 of these and have not broken any yet but will be extra careful after seeing this.
You could easily 3d print a mount. Local public libraries may have a printer you can use if you don't own one.
yea do have one, and thought about this but only print in PLA (not enclosed) and wasn't sure it would hold up to elements and not to mention I only have black and some shiny iridescent "burnt titanium" , plus I wanted thin (to allow the use of the threaded post and cap as a mount point) and strong so metal seemed more appropriate.
I'm buying a 3d printer soon any way . One of the first project I was going to look into is printing a couple extras.
