I recently paired a Zooz brand ZEN20 power strip (fw 1.0d) via ZW to my C-7 and all five child devices were created ok. Clicking commands in Device Details makes the outlets turn on and off just fine.
But pressing the physical switches on the Zooz itself doesn't change the status on the hub for any of them. So none of my RM rules can be triggered this way, for example.
Where should I be looking for the bottleneck?
What platform version are you running? Check Settings > Hub Details to see.
Can you also check the hardware revision from the bottom of the power strip (or the device information section on the device detail page)? I'm guessing it's a V2.0, but their firmware versions are a bit odd.
Sorry shoulda mentioned C7 is running 2.4.1.157 (latest as of today I believe). But as I wrote earlier, the power strip has firmware 1.0d, not the newer 2.0 (which IIRC only has one difference that doesn't affect much).
Parent device driver is built-in "Zooz Power Strip", while the children use "Zooz Power Strip Outlet Component."
I don't see any entries in Logs for the times I manually pressed any of the outlet switches so that's where I got lost. Gonna grab some lunch and then revisit the situation.
I see that you provided the firmware version, but I asked for the hardware version because they are different:
The "Device Data" section of the "Device Info" tab on the device detail page/flyout will also show some of this and I suppose would be good to see regardless, though I don't know what identifiers match up with exactly anything besides the first and some of the newer revisions. I suspect you have something in between, but this would be good to confirm. Thanks!
Definitely says "ZEN20 1.0d" on the printed label underneath. So I figure that's the hardware version? When I check under Device Details, it's tryna tell me Firmware Version is 20.15.
OK, yes, 1.0d must be the hardware and not the firmware version. This makes more sense now.
You have the original version of this power strip. It does not report physical changes back on its own. (It actually doesn't report digital changes either, but because those have to come from the driver, the driver knows and can just send a request to fetch the new status a second or two afterwards.) This might be related to a patent issue, now expired, but I'm not sure it applied to this type of device -- but in any case, the newer versions of this power strip don't have this problem.
In your case, if you need the status for some automation, you'll have to resort to polling or some other workaround. If you don't, it's harmless (again, assuming you don't need the status for any automation), and this is just why it works that way.
Try my "MCP" driver here. [DRIVER] Zooz Smart Plugs Advanced (ZEN04, ZEN05, ZEN14, ZEN15, ZEN20, ZEN25)
It was specially made for the ZEN20 v1, but it should work on the new model as well. I have not had any reports of issues.
The new model I have here (not tested yet), shows ZEN20 800LR, and Firmware: 4.10 on the label.
Super helpful to know. I'll just refrain from punching the physical buttons, and always use Alexa or Hubitat to command On and Off. Glad I caught this early on, and thanks for the info!
This is what both of mine did, right before they died. The original version of this device was not great. I hear the newer version is better.
Hope you have better luck than me.
I wound up getting 3 Kasa smart strips and those have been working great, but they require a community developed app to function- on second thought that may have changed... and they maybe natively supported?
