Eventually will Hubitat support the audio speaker in the Zooz MultiSiren? That would be a nifty way to get some phrases implemented in addition to the siren.
I just bought one of these at https://www.thesmartesthouse.com/ on sale, and saw that they list Hubitat as a supported hub, congratulations guys!
To be truthful, I've not really used it much. The batteries ran down already, but they were the batteries that came with it so maybe they were old. It fell off the wall (mounted with the tape that came with it) that was startling. On top of that, it's a bit difficult to open up to change batteries once you have it mounted, you have to take it off the wall as far as I can tell, so I wouldn't attach it with screws. They didn't engineer that very well. Right now I have it just sitting on the hutch and not using it for anything.
I did play the built-in messages, they sound pretty good through the speaker. I never did hook it up to the PC to try to load new messages on it.
I have to echo the same thoughts here. Initially i bought to help sound some chimes when someone pulls in the driveway or my gates open, but i pretty much liked that i could just get my google mini to tell me what was happening verses having to memorize a sound pattern for what was happening. I then changed my alarm to sound for water leak and HSM intrusions only. I barely had any sound play out of it and fully depleted the battery in it within a month. (4 C cell batteries). Not sure why they didn't make it able to be powered through mains since it has a USB Mini port. I really hope that i can expect better battery life out of it going forward (i re-paired it just in case there was a z wave issue causing the drain). To get the battery cover off, i just pull real hard from the bottom, but your right, they didn't engineer a way to get a screwdriver into the slot to pop the cover off easily. The most useful function is that i measure my kitchens temp and humidity with it and it seems pretty accurate.
We just got a new version of the siren, the latest production run optimized battery life with a hardware update so if you've experienced battery drain with the sirens from the first batch, please get in touch with our support and we'll replace it with the new hardware!
I'm debating to get Aeotec Siren 6 or Zooz MultiSiren.
Can the volume be controlled by the playSound command or I will need to adjust the wav file myself? (some events want to be loud, some are just informative)
I like Aeotec Siren 6 that it supports up to 3 433Mhz RF button to trigger events (I assume they are the regular 433Mhz RF, those transceiver are very cheap compared to Z-wave).
But I will need to memorize different tones for different triggers.
Because of that, I'm definitely considering Zooz which I can create my own files.
The driver uses the Chime capability which has a playSound(#) command, but that command doesn't support passing the volume into it.
In order to play sounds at different volumes your rule will need an action that sets the volume and a delayed action for the playSound command so that the volume has time to change before playing the sound.
@agnes.zooz@krlaframboise and whoever else can chime in, is it normal that this device is not reporting any temperature/humidity using built-in driver on Hubitat? I mainly care about the sounds/siren which do function, but only get 0 values for temperature/humidity no matter what I have tried so far. Just wondering if maybe I'm missing something...
That's definitely not normal. If you tried exclusion and re-inclusion (just in case it didn't configure correctly) and are still getting 0 values only, please get in touch with our support so we can get that resolved for you.
Aeotec Siren 6 does not support sound files at all, it will not work for you, you can only chose from preloaded sounds unlike the Zooz ZSE19 MultiSirenwhich allow up to 85 seconds of sound (see below, from their manual) and you need the old ZW056 Doorbell, it has something like 128 MB or some huge storage space and can handle a wide variety of .wav and ,mp3 sounds, it does have a volume limit of 80 db since it is doorbell chime. All 3 have volume control. I have the ZOW056 and it has 100 volume levels. I suspect so does the siren 6 and Zooz use 0 (silence) to 99 for it volumes.
ZSE19 audio file limits (files via their PC software):
.wav files in Mono only (you need to convert any Mp3βs)
Sample rate: 8KHz β 32KHz
Max length per file: 30 seconds (total max length of all files: 85 sec.
