Zigbee Repeater set up

So I need the simple explanantion on how to set up my Zigbee repeaters.
I ordered 3 Ikea repeaters and they are at home waiting on me so I'm wondering what exactly I need to do to get them up and going so I can get the switches on the other side of my house working.

As far as I know I need to:

  • discover them
  • then place them wherever I need them
  • ???

I've seen some mention a panic mode in the hub will force everything to go through the new mesh? I'm a little lost on everything.

Just getting them joined to the zigbee network and wait. within a day hubitat will rebuild the mesh. from other posts disconnecting hubitat for 20+ minutes will force the network to reconverge if you want to go that way. and the driver now shows info about neighbors.

So shutting down the hub will probably force the switches to connect the repeaters?

Then should be good to go on the new mesh? Is there any way to verify if it's working?

It is also a good idea after the repeaters are installed to disconnect power to your other Zigbee devices and repower them. That is the only way to get it to search for its strongest signal neighbor. Otherwise it may keep a connection to a weaker one.

So the Zigbee devices I'm trying to get to connect are Third Reality Switches which are battery powered. Should I remove the batteries and then start them back up?

That's a good question. I am not certain how battery powered are affected. Paging @mike.maxwell. [insert bat signal]

yes...

Are the getLInkQuality and getRouteTable buttons in the device page supposed to work? I have some IKEA repeaters paired and those buttons don't seem to do anything, the logs show a lot of information I don't understand when I click those buttons but nothing shows on the device page.
