Since I am adding a good many Zigbee Devices to my hubs, I have been looking to strengthen my Zigbee mesh. After reading a lot of articles here about Zigbee repeaters I came across a few recommendations for the "Securifi Peanut Smart Plug" being a good cheap Zigbee repeater. There are references in the community to it being HE compatible but when I look at the compatible devices list I don't see it.
First is it compatible? Second, if not what is a recommended repeater that IS compatible, reliable and economical?
Yes, it is compatible... However power usage reporting does not work. That is probably why they don't have it on the official list.
IKEA Tradfri Outlets and Dedicated Zigbee Repeaters are reported to work well with Hubitat, especially if you have a desire to use Xiaomi devices (which are not fully Zigbee HA1.2 compliant.)
The Samsung SmartThings outlets also are reported to work well.
Personally, I use Lowes Iris 3210-L outlets. These can be bought on ebay for not much $, however they are not the "Xiaomi friendly." But, they are also a Z-Wave Plus repeater!
I've got a bunch of the Samsung SmartThings Outlets in my system. They work perfectly, and I've never had a problem with any other Zigbee device (LQIs all 250+).
Great info ! Thanks for the quick response. The Peanut plug looks good due to price. I also hate dedicated repeaters that have no other use other than repeating. At least you get a smart plug out of this one. SmartThings looks appetizing as well just a little more expensive. Thanks again for your help.
There have been mixed experiences with the Peanut. My repeaters of choice remain the Iris v2 plugs (for my non-Xiaomi Hubitat), and Ikea USB repeaters (for my Xiaomi Hubitat). FWIW, Peanuts do not work as repeaters for Xiaomi sensors.
