Zigbee - Recently Added Devices not being shared with Alexa and Google Home

Hubitat C-8

I have numerous zigbee devices in the hubitat - All work with Google Home AND Alexa.

However some that have been added recently, the past couple of months, only work in the hubitat (Same products) and are Not listed in the Google Integration... therefore, Alexa does not "See" them, and asking Google to "Synchronize Devices", does NOT find them.

Is there something recent that has to be changed?

I have the HPM installed...

What kinds of devices are you referring to, specifically?

AFAIK the Google Home integration will only allow you to select devices that are supported by the integration. Devices that aren't supported will not appear in this selection list in the Google Home integration app. So depending on the type of devices you've added recently, that could be an issue.

So if these new devices are unsupported type(s) you won't be able to add them to the Google Home integration on the hub.

In addition to danabw's questions above, it would be helpful to know if you're using the native GH integration or the community-developed GH integration.

they are zigbee Outlets - sonoff S31 and I have many, added a while ago - All are accessible through Google home after saying to google, "Synchronize Devices", as well as Alexa 'finding them', after being added in Hubitat....... EXCEPT for the same devices, which I added a few more of, recently.

So, I can control in hubitat either manually or by Rule... BUT, using alexa or GH, they don't see them... It is like they are not making it to the alexa and GH Integrations List Of Devices, so they don't get shared over to alexa and GH...

Just make sure we cover all bases, have you added to new oulets to the GH integration and hit the "Done" button there?

After doing that, I usually wait a minute or so to make sure things have time to fly to right desinations in the ol' cloud before telling Google to "sync my devices".

Hi.

Amazon Echo Skill - Built In
Google Home - Built In

They do NOT show up in the List in the Apps - Amazon Echo Skill or Google Home, so I cannot Select them...

Still just want to make sure we're covering the basics here... So when you open the native GH app, are you tapping in the grey area to open the selection menu?

If so, then are you saying the new outlets are not available to select in that menu (step 2 in image below)?

Thank You! I feel quite silly... the Click in the window I think did it...

I had also Rebooted the Hubitat before reading your post (hydro311) , but I think it is from the clicking in the grey window!

Thanks again!

Glad you got it working! We rarely use the Google integration, but it's a nice option every now & then to use voice commands for stuff.

If you find the integration not working in the future, the issue is probably just a network/cloud burble on Google's end. If I notice something amiss and the ol' Google "sync my devices" trick fails, don't panic... Just give it some time and try again later -- it will most likely work fine then.

I'm sorry to report, I just got back to this and after telling Google to Synchronize devices a couple hours ago, google Home still does NOT recognize the newly added devices (again, they are the same as some others installed many months ago). Have I forgotten another silly step?

The documentation for the native GH integration is here - might be worth making sure all these steps are taken care of. New devices have to added as I described above.

Although the "sync my devices" command isn't mentioned in these steps, it would be the very last thing at the end -- all of this other stuff has to be done before "sync my devices" can work.

Likely not, but make sure that you follow @hydro311's suggestions completely.

Won't hurt to reboot your phone, and you may want to try the device sync on both Wi-Fi and mobile data.

FWIW I have had issues in the past w/GH app not synchronizing properly, due to cloud issues on Google's end. This may not be the case for you now, but I have had it happen more than once. Those instances in some cases lasted several days...

Thanks for all your guidance! I have things working.

In the end I think it may have simply been one or 2 missing 'clicks', during the steps to select the devices... I decided to 'double on the clicks', for "Update" and "Done", buttons...

I have a variant of this problem that just cropped up. I just added two devices, a Kasa TP-Link outdoor smart plug (Wifi; added using the Kasa integration app) and a Third Reality zigbee plug. All went well with adding the plugs to Hubitat and it controls them well. However, neither of these two devices are showing up in my android Alexa app. They are showing up in my Google Home app. Everything else from previous installs or additions is showing up in Alexa via the Hubitat skill - just not these two devices. I've rebooted the hub & phone, but I still can't get the plugs to show up.

Has anyone else observed this problem? Is there a workaround that'll let me add these? The Hubitat wiki that addresses this seems to be out of date because it refers to links in the app that no longer exist.
