Hello I have had the c7 for about a yr. I think. It was originally setup to handle our zigbee network. It started randomly losing zigbee lights to the point that it will, (we have 1 zone of 5 light, another zone of 6 lights, another zone of 9) allow a zone to be turned on or off and random lights in that group won’t turn on or off. It is throughout the network.
I also have a problem where the dashboards won’t load in the app without connecting to the hub.
The time based rules for the lights has also seemed to stop working.
It seemed to stop working well about 2 months ago.
The lights are advanced zigbee ct bulb, a sonoff s31 plug as a repeater as well as a sylvania smart plug as a repeater.
i had issues with sylvania bulbs.. they are crap repeaters and can cause these issues. i replaced all of them with hue bulbs on my hue hub and havE HAD no issues since.
how would 1 light not working affect a whole set of lights where ones will randomly be able to be turned off then on? I only ask as I am trying to understand zigged communication better.
So 1 light could be affecting a half dozen in a set of 20 lights?
It weird because I have reset some of the the lights and reconnected them to the mesh ad then they will stay responding and then stop and then they will start. It’s weird to me. Also my lights 12.5’ off the ground and over the living room which is 80’ long 25’ wide so it’s a lot of ladder work.
What you are saying is the light of failing to relay or is getting signals and interrupting the signal where other lights can not respond correct?
If one light is in the Zigbee routing table saying it is the best candidate for routing, and it in reality is a terrible Zigbee router (often the case) then yes this could definitely happen.
For me, I had to remove all of my terrible zigbee bulbs that were repeaters. I added 5 Iris smartplugs just for their zigbee repeating feature, and have never looked back. I have about 60 zigbee devices (motion, open/close, leak detectors) all working great after the bulb issue.
This happened to me frequently with Osram manufactured Sylvania bulbs on SmartThings and then on HE. I added a bunch of Peanut plugs that did nothing helpful. The Osram bulbs died and were replaced under warranty with Ledvance manufactured Sylvania bulbs, and some transformed into Hue bulbs (didn’t tell the wife ) on the Hue bridge. The Peanut plugs went into the drawer of shame, and most of the z-wave dimmers became GE Zigbee dimmers. No problems since.
If I had difficult to access bulbs, I would only use Hue. In three years I’ve only had 1 Hue bulb need replaced, and never have had one lose connection. I have two Hue bridges btw and a wife that no longer complains about the lights not working, which makes the expense of Hue more than worth it.
funny thing happened a few days ago. we had a power outage for 3 hrs and now everything works fine. I had unplugged the C7 for a couple of hrs before and also the lights but go figure.
Still don't know why the dashboards won't pull up without going to the hub first
